Amanda, this article was so good. The past and future determine the decisions we make. But without living in the present, we can miss so much. I find this especially true with my kids. It’s all too easy to get caught up and not focus on the here and now. I loved this article.
Thank you, Stephen! I’ve been trying to be very intentional lately about spending time with my kids in the now. Every time I think that in 6 years they’ll be preteens it’s a wake up call to pay closer attention. They grow up so fast!
One of the downsides of teaching is that you're always planning for the future. It's always the next lesson, next subject, next meeting, next day. I'm sure it's a similar situation in most professions, but I've never spent so much of my time in tomorrow than when teaching today.
I agree! I taught for a few years so I get it. I’ll be homeschooling my two youngest and already I’ve started mapping out curriculum and plans. 😬 I constantly have to remind myself they’re not even school age yet.
