It has been a week full of celebrations:
My big three are finally home after 5 weeks away with their father.
Since we were not together for the 4th of July (my favorite holiday), we saved fireworks to light off all together.
My youngest daughter turned three.
She is also now out of diapers! Hallelujah!
My oldest daughter passed her belt test in Taekwondo and is now halfway to her black belt.
My husband and I celebrated our 6th anniversary.
My oldest two children took summer classes to make room in their schedules for other things, and they have finished (and passed!) all those classes.
Rarely do so many celebrations fall in the same window of time. It was a wonderful way to spend the past week. As each celebration was enjoyed, I found myself wishing that we could have more weeks like this past one.
And why not?
Why can’t we celebrate every tiny victory? Why can’t we make an ordinary day special?
So here is my challenge for you, for me, for all of us— don’t save it for later.
Use the special china. Wear the fancy outfit. Spend the gift card. Declare it a special occasion. Bake the dessert. Take the trip.
Whatever you’ve been holding back for a special moment, use it now. NOW is a special moment.
If you need a reason to celebrate, then allow me to suggest the best reason to celebrate:
You are here.
And I don’t mean here at The Splendid Mess, though that is certainly reason for me to celebrate; what I mean is that you are here, in existence. That alone is enough.
So, go celebrate! Find the joy and hold it so tightly that it leaves an imprint on your soul.
What will you be celebrating this week?

I love the picture of the airplanes on the fan! Made me laugh--
Always so sunny. It’s refreshing!
